You will also notice the “J in the Triangle” marking roughly stamped into the pistol, which is a known and reported unit marking from WW1 indicating that this pistol certainly saw service in France during WW1. You will also notice the circled Colt pony on the rear of the slide, the rounded rear sight the short hammer and the early high polish finish that was used on these pistols at the time.

This pistol is completely original to include the early keyhole mag and h marked barrel. This is interesting as it is one of the very few of the new model 1911 pistols that was shipped to the post Reconstruction South, feelings even at this late date ran strong in the Army of the Civil War and few of these pistols were sent to the deep south. This pistol was shipped from Colt’s on Octoto the Augusta Arsenal in Georgia. In 95% original condition with 100% factory original parts including the barrel, we have an exceptional historically significant US Army issued Colt model 1911 pistol serial number 8277.
